Brentwood Centre to undergo £25m redevelopment
Brentwood Borough Council has granted planning permission for a £25 million redevelopment of the Brentwood Centre on Doddinghurst Road. The project aims to modernise the town’s primary leisure, sport, and community hub through an extension and refurbishment of the existing facility.
Key features of the approved scheme include the installation of three new all-weather 3G sports pitches to replace outdated equipment, improved parking, and enhanced landscaping. The design prioritises accessibility, incorporating step-free access and a Changing Places facility.
The council is currently conducting cost and value-for-money assessments, with a full business case expected in October 2026. The project involves operator Everyone Active and may receive up to £2 million in grant funding from the Football Foundation for the new pitches. The centre is expected to remain open during most of the redevelopment process.
