Brentwood lawsuit alleges gambling party for minors and knife attack

A lawsuit filed against hedge-fund manager Mario Govic, his wife Ann Marie, and their son Jack alleges they hosted a gambling party for minors at their $30 million Brentwood mansion in August 2024. The complaint states the event featured card games involving money among several young attendees.

The suit claims a dispute arose when 17-year-old Noah Setareh requested the return of a valuable watch he had allegedly provided as collateral for a gambling debt. According to the filing, Jack Govic refused to return the item, leading to a confrontation in the driveway. The lawsuit alleges that Jack produced a butterfly knife and lunged at Setareh, striking his dominant right hand and causing an open wound. Setareh reportedly required medical treatment and continues to suffer from physical pain and scarring.
