Bärenwald Arbesbach expands, adds barrier‑free facilities in Austria

The Bärenwald Arbesbach wildlife park in Austria’s Waldviertel will undergo a major expansion and modernization funded by ecoplus Regionalförderung. The project adds a barrier‑free roof level with new exhibition space, a multifunction room for education, and an observation terrace, while the indoor exhibition and entrance area are being updated with the latest technology and design.

Lower Austria’s governor Johanna Mikl‑Leitner said the development “strengthens animal welfare, tourism and regional value creation” and provides a “better future for our children.” Park staff, including administrative coordinator Gabriela Schwott, highlighted that the new facilities will broaden educational programmes and improve the visitor experience for the roughly 35,000 annual guests. ecoplus executives Helmut Miernicki and Bernhard Ebner emphasized the regional economic benefits of the investment.
