Brescia and Bari football clubs pursue court‑backed plans to avoid bankruptcy

Brescia Calcio, owned by Massimo Cellino, has filed a preventive arrangement (concordato) with the Brescia court in an effort to avoid bankruptcy. The club faces debts of just under €20 million, and the potential proceeds from the transfer of player Sandro Tonali—estimated at about €3.8 million—are seen as crucial to the rescue plan. The request is currently a “blank” concordato that must later be documented with a detailed repayment schedule for creditors.

Bari Calcio, controlled by Filmauro and the De Laurentis family, is preparing a rapid recapitalisation to address a balance‑sheet deficit and to counter a bankruptcy accusation by the Bari prosecutor. The club must restore its €130,000 share capital by 30 July, with the parent company expected to inject roughly €7‑9 million in credit. The case also involves the disputed sale of goalkeeper Elia Caprile to Napoli for €2.2 million, which prosecutors allege was undervalued and contributed to the alleged insolvency.

Both clubs are seeking court‑approved financial solutions to remain operational and to prevent liquidation of their football activities.
