Brescia Court faces significant administrative staff reductions

The National Association of Magistrates (ANM) in Brescia has raised alarms regarding a significant reduction in administrative staff at the Brescia Court. Following a decree from the Ministry of Justice published in September 2026, the court's administrative workforce is set to decrease from 336 to 233 units.

Magistrates argue that this reduction is inadequate given the heavy workload and the size of the jurisdiction. Brescia serves approximately 1.268 million inhabitants, ranking fifth in Italy for user base, yet it ranks only seventeenth out of 26 in terms of staffing levels. The ANM noted that other courts serving smaller populations, such as Palermo, Catania, and Bari, maintain significantly larger administrative teams.
