Brescia hospital inaugurates new pediatric bone marrow transplant ward

A new pediatric bone marrow transplant ward, named ‘Monica e Luca Folonari’, has been inaugurated at the ASST Spedali Civili di Brescia children's hospital. The project involved a total investment of 1.5 million euros to modernize the facility, which serves as a key center for children with onco-hematological pathologies and other serious diseases requiring stem cell transplants.

The renovation was made possible through the combined efforts of Ail Brescia Odv and the Fondazione della Comunità Bresciana, alongside significant community support from local businesses, associations, and citizens. The upgraded ward features five positive-pressure hospitalization rooms, each equipped with private bathrooms and pre-chamber filters, as well as advanced technological systems for monitoring patient vital signs and dedicated spaces for families.

The inauguration ceremony included regional welfare official Guido Bertolaso and other local representatives.
