Brest art galleries host photography exhibitions
The Le Comœdia gallery in Brest is hosting an exhibition titled ‘La Photographie de sport, tout un art !’, running from October 16, 2026, to January 16, 2027. The showcase features 80 works by 38 photographers across 17 different sporting disciplines, celebrating the bicentenary of photography. The collection includes historical and contemporary works from photographers such as Neil Leifer, Corinne Dubreuil, and Catherine Steenkeste, capturing moments ranging from Muhammad Ali’s 1966 fight to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Separately, the Galerie de Louise in Brest is presenting ‘Morlenn Brest’ by artist Guy Bescond from November 5 to December 12, 2026. Bescond utilizes a 4x5 inch Woodyman large-format camera and Fomapan film to explore the Brest roadstead. His process involves traditional film photography followed by manual lith printing, a technique that relies on chemical reactions to interpret the landscape of the tides, shores, and coastal infrastructure.
