Brest: Maël de Calan faces defamation trial and kidnapping arrests reported
In Brest, Maël de Calan, president of the Departmental Council, appeared in court for a defamation trial initiated by LFI deputy Pierre-Yves Cadalen. The hearing lasted over six hours, with a verdict expected on October 22.

In a separate criminal matter, gendarmes arrested four men, aged 18 to 37, in connection with the kidnapping of a family in Ploudalmézeau this past April. The suspects allegedly targeted the father to gain access to his cryptocurrency wallet. Two of the suspects have been placed in provisional detention.
