After attempting a comeback performance in Sugar Hill, Georgia, medical professionals determined that Michaels requires additional rest. His representatives stated that he will take the next several months off to heal. Doctors noted that the summer heat and humidity pose risks to his recovery, particularly regarding the management of his Type 1 diabetes and blood sugar levels.

The cancellation affects several upcoming scheduled performances, including a headlining appearance at The Mountain Music Festival in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
