Bret Michaels cancels 2026 tour dates due to health recovery

Bret Michaels, the frontman for the rock band Poison, has canceled the remainder of his 2026 tour dates to focus on medical recovery. The decision follows a comeback performance at The Bowl at Sugar Hill in Georgia on August 21, which was intended to be his first show since undergoing emergency surgery for a complicated obstructing kidney stone.

Medical professionals, including Dr. Abby Borhan and Dr. Patel, advised Michaels to take an extended hiatus immediately following the performance. Doctors noted that the heat and humidity of the summer months could negatively impact his blood sugar levels, a critical concern given his lifelong Type 1 diabetes. The cancellation affects several upcoming events, including the Mountain Music Festival in Tennessee and the Canfield Fair in Ohio.

Michaels expressed gratitude to his fans and colleagues while acknowledging that he may have attempted his return to the stage too early. He has indicated a desire to return to performing in 2027 or 2028 once he has fully recovered.
