Brett Baty avoids major knee injury after MRI

New York Mets utility player Brett Baty has avoided a major injury after undergoing an MRI for left knee discomfort. The exam showed no structural damage following an incident where Baty left a game after running to first base.

Despite the positive medical news, Baty did not appear in the Mets' 6-4 loss to the New York Yankees on September 11. Interim manager Andy Green indicated that Baty was expected to be available on the bench if necessary for the Subway Series opener.

Baty has recently experienced an offensive surge, recording a .357/.404/.667 slash line over his last 18 games, including 12 RBIs and two home runs. However, analysts have noted concerns regarding his long-term consistency and the impact of his shifting roles within the Mets' lineup.
