Brett Ferres appointed head coach of Goole Vikings

Brett Ferres has been appointed as the new head coach of the Goole Vikings following his retirement from professional rugby league. The 40-year-old former Super League and England forward succeeds Scott Taylor, who is departing to join the coaching staff at Hull FC.

Ferres, who captained the Vikings during the final two seasons of his playing career, was selected following an extensive recruitment process. Club director James Clark stated that Ferres’ views on gameplay and standards align with the club’s vision, noting that his appointment received unanimous board approval and respect from the playing group.

The Vikings recently concluded their second season in the professional ranks, finishing 14th in the merged Championship. Ferres aims to build on the club's growth at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds as he transitions from a playing career that included a Grand Final win with the Leeds Rhinos.
