Brewing traditions: From Bavarian heritage to Italian expansion

The craft brewing industry continues to highlight both long-standing family traditions and modern corporate evolutions. In Markt Schwaben, Germany, Privatbrauerei Schweiger maintains a legacy dating back to 1896. Founded by Ludwig Schweiger, the family-run brewery has operated for four generations, utilizing local ingredients such as malt from the surrounding area, hops from the Hallertau region, and water from the Ebersberg forest. The brewery adheres to the Reinheitsgebot, the historic purity law of 1516.

In Italy, Bonavena Brewing, based in Faicchio, is undergoing a significant transition. After separating from its original structure to become Bonavena Brewing Srl in 2024, the company is expanding its reach from specialized pubs into the broader Horeca (hotel, restaurant, and cafe) sector. Under the leadership of CEO Fabio Di Folco and brewer Roberto Falasca, the brewery produces 1,500 hectoliters annually, balancing contemporary styles like West Coast IPA with traditional, malt-focused brews inspired by Franconian techniques.
