Brex index shows rising costs for startup starter kits

Brex has introduced the ‘Startup Starter Kit’ index, which tracks the cost of essential software and hardware purchased by new companies during their first 90 days of operation. The inaugural index reports that the cost of this kit has risen to $4,417, representing a 14% increase compared to the costs for companies founded in 2023.

Despite variations across different industries, a core group of fifteen merchants consistently meets a 10% adoption threshold among new startups. These recurring providers include Google Workspace, Amazon, OpenAI, Slack, Apple, LinkedIn, GitHub, Zoom, AWS, Intuit, GoDaddy, DocuSign, Microsoft, Figma, and Notion. Additionally, AI-focused tools such as Cursor and Claude have recently seen increased adoption rates among new businesses.
