Brüggen restores historical Klimp-Express tourist service

The Klimp-Express has officially resumed its tours in Brüggen, marking the return of a local historical tradition. Following extensive preparations, operator Björn Thönnißen and his team launched the first maiden voyage on September 20.

The historical setup includes a locomotive based on a 1956 Hanomag R45, which was traced to East Frisia before being brought back to Brüggen, paired with its original salon car. The project aims to provide a new tourist attraction that allows visitors to experience the region's nature, landscape, and historical sites at a leisurely pace.

Mayor Marcel Johnen praised the initiative, noting that the project is a significant private contribution to the community's tourism offerings and a revival of a connection deeply rooted in the town's history.
