Eka Fitriyani Wulandari, a 34‑year‑old field officer (Mantri) for Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) in the Salakan unit of the Luwuk branch, travels by boat across the sea to reach the islands of Bungin, Bakalan and Bulungkobit in Banggai Kepulauan, Central Sulawesi. The archipelagic area relies on maritime transport, and weather can be unpredictable, but she ensures that residents—fishermen, coconut farmers and small‑business owners—maintain access to banking services. Her duties include opening financing opportunities, visiting customers, supporting BRI‑Link agents, and holding meetings with community groups to educate them about financial management. Despite limited infrastructure, such as unreliable electricity and modest vessels, she continues the work, balancing the demands of the job with her responsibilities as a mother. BRI’s micro‑finance director, Akhmad Purwakajaya, praised her dedication as a concrete example of the bank’s commitment to serving Indonesia’s most remote and underserved regions.
