BRI inaugurates suspension bridge in Cianjur to improve local access

PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, through its BRI Peduli social and environmental responsibility program, has inaugurated a new suspension bridge in Kemang Village, Bojongpicung District, Cianjur Regency, West Java. The inauguration took place on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at SDN Kemang.

Prior to the bridge's construction, residents of the village, which is home to approximately 7,000 people, were forced to cross the Cihea and Cikupa rivers to access essential facilities. During the rainy season, rising water levels often made river crossings impossible, forcing residents to take much longer alternative routes. This hindered economic activities and posed safety risks for children traveling to school.

The new suspension bridge is designed to accommodate 10 to 20 people at a time and can be used by two-wheeled vehicles. Kemang Village Head Dadan Subarna stated that the bridge provides safer and smoother mobility for the community, facilitating both social and economic activities.
