Brian Burns placed on injured reserve with torn ACL
New York Giants star edge rusher Brian Burns has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a torn ACL during Sunday’s 12-7 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The injury occurred in the fourth quarter, ending Burns’ season after only three games.
Burns, a three-time Pro Bowl selection who recorded 16.5 sacks last season, had been playing through a minor ankle sprain leading up to the game. His absence follows the recent loss of starting quarterback Jaxson Dart, who is also out for the season due to a knee injury.
To address roster needs, the Giants have signed wide receivers Braxton Berrios and Charlie Jones. The defensive rotation is expected to rely more heavily on second-year player Abdul Carter and veteran Kayvon Thibodeaux to fill the void in the pass rush.
