Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick faces reelection challenge in Pennsylvania

Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, a five-term Republican representing Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District, is facing a challenging reelection bid as he attempts to distance himself from Donald Trump.

Fitzpatrick has frequently broken with the former president, voting against Trump's tariffs, signature tax legislation, and the use of executive power to wage war against Iran without congressional approval. He also notably skipped a recent midterm convention in Dallas.

His Democratic opponent, Bob Harvie—a former social studies teacher and twice countywide elected commissioner—is running on a platform addressing a perceived lack of trust in government. The race is considered significant as Fitzpatrick represents one of the few Republican districts won by Kamala Harris in the previous presidential election, and voter defections could impact the Republican majority in the U.S. House.
