Brian Gerrity named athletic director at Mercer University

Brian Gerrity has been appointed as the new athletic director at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. A graduate of Maranacook Community School and Bates College, Gerrity previously served as the senior associate athletic director for the Mercer Athletic Foundation.

Gerrity enters the role during a period of significant transformation within Division I college athletics. He noted that modern athletic directors must navigate complex issues such as the transfer portal, revenue sharing, and frequent legal and regulatory changes. He emphasized the importance of working closely with compliance offices, legal departments, and fundraisers to manage these shifts.
