Brian Madjo scores on Aston Villa debut in UEFA Super Cup

Aston Villa striker Brian Madjo made a historic debut in the UEFA Super Cup, scoring against Paris Saint-Germain in Salzburg. At 17 years and 212 days old, Madjo became the youngest player to ever score in the competition, breaking a record previously held by Patrick Kluivert.

Madjo’s appearance followed an eight-month period of registration uncertainty. Although signed from French club Metz in January, FIFA rules regarding the international transfer of minors initially prevented his registration. Aston Villa successfully appealed the decision through the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), arguing that Madjo, though raised in Luxembourg, was born in Enfield, London.

Standing 1.93 meters tall, the striker has drawn physical comparisons to Romelu Lukaku. Madjo, who has represented Luxembourg at the senior level and England at the U17 level, scored a first-half volley to briefly equalize before PSG secured a 2-1 victory.
