Brian May joins William Shatner on upcoming heavy metal album

Queen guitarist Brian May has been confirmed as a collaborator on William Shatner’s upcoming heavy metal album. May is expected to contribute his distinctive guitar sound and will also serve as a mixer for the project.

The collaboration marks a unique intersection of music and science, as both May and Shatner have asteroids named after them (Asteroid 52665 Brianmay and Asteroid 31556 Shatner). May, a PhD-holding astrophysicist, has previously worked with NASA’s New Horizons mission.

Other confirmed contributors to the album include Rob Halford of Judas Priest, John Moyer of Disturbed, and drummer Dave Lombardo. The production is being led by Adam Hamilton and Brian Perera, President of Cleopatra Records. The project is described as a “major crossover moment” that functions as both a metal event record and an artistic left turn.
