Brian May opposes AI development and data center expansion

Queen guitarist Brian May has expressed strong opposition to the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence, stating that humanity does not truly need the technology. In a social media post, May used Meta AI to recreate the cover of the band’s 1980 album, ‘The Game,’ using the imperfect result to question the quality of intelligence that may soon govern the world.

Beyond the technology itself, May raised concerns regarding the physical infrastructure required to support AI. He argued that the construction of massive data centers threatens to destroy the landscapes of both the United Kingdom and the United States. He issued a public appeal to the British Prime Minister, urging immediate intervention to halt the expansion of these facilities before the damage becomes irreversible.
