Brian Rodríguez stays at Club América after Cruzeiro transfer stalls

Uruguayan forward Brian Rodríguez confirmed he will remain with Mexico's Club América after Brazilian side Cruzeiro ended negotiations on a proposed transfer. Cruzeiro announced on social media that talks to sign the 26‑year‑old, for a fee reported between $10 million and $12 million, would not continue, citing a lack of response from América. Rodríguez said he is "very happy" at América and will inform the club when he decides to leave. He highlighted the importance of the Leagues Cup for the team while noting the CONCACAF Champions League remains the region's top competition. His contract runs until June 2029, and América is reportedly targeting Colombian midfielder Jáminton Campaz as a new offensive option.
