Brianna Genao: Eight months since the disappearance of a three-year-old

Eight months have passed since the disappearance of three-year-old Brianna Genao in the Dominican Republic, leaving her mother, Yessica González, in a state of continuous anguish and uncertainty. Despite an extensive search operation involving land and air assets, as well as cooperation with the FBI and Interpol, the child's whereabouts remain unknown.

In the initial investigation, some relatives were detained, including one individual who allegedly confessed to the crime but later retracted the statement. Although an Interpol yellow alert was issued, no significant leads have been reported. The case remains open as authorities continue their investigation.

In response to such disappearances, President Luis Abinader recently enacted Law 25-26, establishing the 'Alertas RD' national search system. This regulation categorizes alerts by type, including Amber alerts for children, Silver for seniors, Blue for persons with disabilities, and Pink for women facing gender-based violence or human trafficking.
