Brians 2 prison staff member assaulted by visitor

A visitor at the Brians 2 penitentiary center in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, Barcelona, violently assaulted a staff member on Sunday, August 16. The incident occurred around 1:20 PM in the communications area during visitor access.

According to the SICAP-FEPOL union and the Department of Justice, the attack was triggered when the staff member asked the woman to wait briefly for an elevator to allow elderly individuals with reduced mobility to pass first. The visitor responded by lunging at the worker, hitting, scratching, and biting her on the face, chest, and arms, and pulling her hair.

Other staff members activated security protocols to intervene and subdue the woman. During the altercation, an 86-year-old visitor who attempted to assist the staff member was also injured by a bite to the hand and required medical attention. The Mossos d'Esquadra took control of the situation and detained the aggressor.
