Brickyard Belle wins Grade 3 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park

Brickyard Belle secured a come-from-behind victory in the Grade 3, $200,000 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park on Saturday. Ridden by Manuel Franco and trained by Miguel Clement, the two-year-old filly overcame a slow start and a trailing position to overtake the pacesetter, Harper's Corner, in the stretch.

Brickyard Belle finished the six-furlong inner-turf sprint in 1:08.26, winning by a half-length. Harper's Corner took second place, while More Champagne finished third. Following this performance, trainer Miguel Clement indicated the filly would likely move on to the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Keeneland on October 30.

A $600,000 purchase by Case Clay Thoroughbred Management, Brickyard Belle is a daughter of Yaupon. This victory marks her as a significant rising star in the juvenile filly division.
