BRICS trade expands as UAE non-oil commerce with bloc hits $312 billion

The 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi highlights the growing economic integration within the bloc. Intra-BRICS merchandise trade reached $1.17 trillion in 2024, marking a more than 13-fold increase since 2003.

As a full member since January 2024, the United Arab Emirates has seen significant growth in its economic partnerships. Non-oil trade between the UAE and BRICS nations rose to $312 billion in 2025, up from $243 billion in 2024. This represents a 28.5 percent increase, with BRICS members accounting for approximately 31 percent of the UAE’s total non-oil foreign trade.

China and India remain the UAE’s primary trading partners within the group. Specifically, the UAE’s non-oil trade with China exceeded $111.5 billion in 2025. While the bloc’s trade volume is rising, it currently represents roughly 4.1 percent of global exports and 5.4 percent of global imports, leading members to explore digital trade, services, and green industries to unlock further potential.
