Bridge maintenance scheduled for Pont d'Aquitaine and Pierre-Laporte

Major bridge maintenance projects in France and Canada will result in significant traffic disruptions.

In France, the Pont d'Aquitaine is scheduled for closures in September 2026. These include full two-way closures during the nights of Wednesday, September 16, and Thursday, September 17, as well as a weekend closure from Saturday night through Sunday evening. Additionally, bicycle paths on the bridge will face various closures and diversions between late 2025 and September 2026.

In Canada, the Pierre-Laporte Bridge will undergo partial evening and night closures between September 10 and September 18. The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility stated these works are necessary to finalize pavement repairs and address main deck joints following weather-related delays. The closures will involve lane reductions in both directions and specific exit closures on Highway 73, requiring motorists to use designated detours.
