Bridge platform secures EU-wide MiCA and EMI licences for regulated stablecoin services
Stripe-owned Bridge has obtained two licences from Luxembourg's financial regulator CSSF: a MiCA‑compliant crypto‑asset service provider licence and an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) licence. The dual authorisation creates a single regulatory passport that covers all 27 EU member states, allowing the platform to offer Euro‑backed stablecoins and virtual, named IBAN accounts to businesses across the bloc.
With the licences, companies can issue custom Euro‑stablecoins, integrate them into loyalty programmes, in‑app payments and corporate treasury operations, and provide customers with virtual IBANs without establishing separate bank relationships in each country. The approvals coincide with the final phase of the EU MiCA framework that took effect on 1 July 2026, a deadline that forced many crypto operators to obtain licences or exit the market. Bridge’s expansion follows Stripe’s 2024 $1.1 billion acquisition of the platform and includes a partnership with Visa to roll out Visa‑linked stablecoin cards in over 100 countries by the end of 2026.
