Bridges in Scotland and North Carolina scheduled for repairs

Infrastructure maintenance projects are scheduled for two separate bridges in the United Kingdom and the United States.

In the Borders region of Scotland, the Galafoot Bridge (A6091) will undergo overnight closures for refurbishment. These closures are scheduled for October 4 and 24, November 12 to 17, and November 29, between 7:30 pm and 6 am. Additionally, eastbound traffic will face closures from October 5 through late November for re-waterproofing and resurfacing. BEAR Scotland stated the work is necessary to replace failed waterproofing and prevent long-term damage to the concrete structure.

In Wilmington, North Carolina, the Front Street Bridge will undergo nightly closures from 8 pm to 7 am starting September 14 to prepare for structural repairs. Following a week of preparatory work, the bridge is expected to close for six months beginning September 24. During the extended repair period, a pedestrian walkway on the east side of the bridge will remain open, and vehicles will be diverted to adjacent streets.
