Bridgestone begins supply of next-generation Boeing 737 aircraft tires
Bridgestone has commenced the supply of new aircraft tires designed for Boeing 737-8 (737 MAX 8) and 737NG series aircraft. Developed using proprietary material technologies and flight data simulations, the new tires offer significant improvements in operational efficiency and durability.
Key performance enhancements include a more than 20% increase in the number of possible landings per tire compared to previous models. Additionally, the company has improved uneven wear (偏摩耗) by over 20% on certain routes by optimizing the tire's contact with the ground during takeoff, landing, and taxiing. These advancements aim to reduce aircraft downtime, minimize unplanned maintenance, and lower operational costs for airlines.
The tires utilize Bridgestone’s ‘NanoPro-Tech’ technology to enhance the reinforcement and dispersion of carbon black within the rubber. The design also optimizes the sidewall shape to improve case durability, supporting the use of retreading. Retreading allows approximately 80% of the materials from a new tire to be reused, contributing to a reduction in CO2 emissions during the manufacturing stage. Bridgestone plans to expand supply to domestic and international airlines and increase compatible aircraft models from 2027 onwards.
