Bridget Jones's Diary 4K restoration to hold limited revival screenings in Japan
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, a 4K restored version of the romantic comedy ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ will receive a limited two-week revival screening in Japan starting November 13, 2026. The screenings will take place at theaters nationwide, including Shinjuku Piccadilly.
Originally released in 2001, the film stars Renée Zellweger as Bridget Jones, a single woman in London navigating work, love, and personal struggles. The story follows her romantic entanglements between her charming boss, Daniel (played by Hugh Grant), and the sincere Mark Darcy (played by Colin Firth). The film, written by Richard Curtis, earned Zellweger an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
Special campaigns and original admission benefits are planned for the revival. While the primary format is 4K, some theaters may utilize 2K projection. Tickets are set at a flat rate of 1,700 yen, and standard discount services will not apply.
