Bridgeview Palestinian festival site sees clashes between protesters and activists
A violent clash occurred in Bridgeview, Illinois, during the fourth annual Palestine Fest hosted by American Muslims for Palestine. The incident involved a confrontation between counterprotesters and a group of far-right activists who arrived at the festival site.
Witnesses reported that the activists, some of whom wore military-style gear, branded their demonstration as a ‘peaceful Crusader Rally.’ The confrontation escalated as rocks were thrown during the exchange. Bridgeview Mayor Steven Landek condemned the hateful messages and urged all parties to engage in dialogue rather than confrontation.
The festival, which celebrates Palestinian food, music, and culture, was attended by hundreds of people. The mayor noted that the region contains one of the largest Palestinian-American enclaves in the United States.
