Brigandine Abyss tactical RPG review

Brigandine Abyss is a tactical strategy RPG that blends elements of Risk and Fire Emblem with anime aesthetics. Set on the continent of Forsena, players aim to conquer territory and defeat the Abyssloa Empire through a gameplay loop consisting of organization, attack, and invasion phases.

The game offers two primary ways to play: a traditional Mission Mode, where players select a nation to pursue world domination via specific win conditions, and a new Story Mode. Story Mode provides a pre-defined narrative with six starting nations, utilizing cutscenes and specific goals to guide players through the game’s complexities.

Gameplay mechanics focus on managing two types of units: Leaders and Monsters. Leaders command a specific number of Monsters based on command points, and defeating a Leader is a primary strategic objective. Players can expand their influence by defeating adjacent empires to turn them into allies or by using the ‘Fate Binding’ system to recruit Monsters.
