Brigata Sassari awarded silver medal for Lebanon mission

Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto presented a silver medal for military valor to the war flag of the Sassari Logistics Regiment. The award recognizes the brigade's service during the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission in Lebanon between 2024 and 2025.

The ceremony took place in Piazza d'Italia in Sassari and was attended by high-ranking military officials, including Chief of the Defense Staff Luciano Portolano and Army Chief of Staff Carmine Masiello. During his address, Crosetto emphasized the importance of the armed forces in maintaining Italy's international credibility and cited maritime protection in the Red Sea and airspace control as essential security and deterrence examples.

The Sassari Brigade operated in the southwestern sector of Lebanon, a non-belligerency zone. The mission involved supporting civilians, including Christian communities, during their fourth United Nations-led deployment in the region.
