Bright Beginnings Foundation provides $170,000 in Surrey student bursaries
The Bright Beginnings Foundation (BBF), a nonprofit society established in 2015, has provided more than $170,000 in full-ride bursaries and grants to help vulnerable students in Surrey pursue higher education.
Co-founded by retired educator Tammy Neuman and Sylvia Moffat, the foundation currently operates with seven directors, most of whom are retired educators. The organization aims to provide Surrey high school graduates with equal opportunities to attend post-secondary institutions and build careers by covering tuition and student fees.
To date, the foundation has supported 10 students and their families. Funding is generated through various community efforts, including plant sales, concerts, and garage sales, managed via a donor-advised fund with the Vancity Community Foundation.
