Brighton defender Pascal Struijk has red card overturned
An independent Regulatory Commission has rescinded the red card issued to Brighton & Hove Albion defender Pascal Struijk during a Premier League match against Sunderland. The dismissal occurred at the Stadium of Light after a VAR intervention by Neil Davies, which led referee Thomas Bramall to penalize Struijk for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity involving Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor.
Following a successful claim of wrongful dismissal, the one-match suspension has been overturned. Struijk is now eligible to play in Brighton’s upcoming fixture against Crystal Palace. Despite the controversial incident, Brighton secured a 2-0 victory to remain third in the Premier League table.
