Brighton & Hove Albion leverages data scouting for transfer profits

Brighton & Hove Albion has established a unique financial model in the Premier League, generating transfer profits in five of the last six seasons. This success is attributed to the data-driven scouting methods of owner Tony Bloom, a mathematician and former sports betting entrepreneur who uses advanced statistical models to identify player potential.

In the most recent transfer window, Brighton completed its ninth signing with the acquisition of Chema Andres from VfB Stuttgart for 22 million euros. The club spent a total of 165 million euros on new players this summer, while generating 192 million euros in revenue.

Furthering the connection between Brighton and German football, Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler recently recommended Hinnerk Smolka to VfL Wolfsburg. Smolka, a sports psychologist who worked with Hürzeler at St. Pauli, has been hired by Wolfsburg to strengthen the team's mental performance and cohesion.
