Brighton signs Jaouen Hadjam from Young Boys

Brighton & Hove Albion has officially signed Algerian international Jaouen Hadjam from Swiss club Young Boys. The 23-year-old left-back has committed to a long-term contract with the Premier League side that extends until June 30, 2031.

While official financial terms were not disclosed by both clubs, reports indicate the transfer fee is valued at approximately €12 million (£10.3 million), potentially including additional bonuses. Hadjam, who previously played for Paris FC and Nantes, becomes the first Young Boys player to move directly to the Premier League in 14 years.

Brighton's sporting director, Mike Cave, described Hadjam as a ‘modern left-back’ noted for his speed, technical ability, and offensive contributions. The signing is intended to bolster defensive depth under head coach Fabian Hurzeler, providing competition for players such as Ferdi Kadioglu and Maxim De Cuyper.

Separately, reports indicate that midfielder Matt O’Riley is expected to depart Brighton this summer. After struggling for consistent minutes following a loan spell at Marseille, the 25-year-old is being monitored by several clubs in Europe’s top five leagues, including Lyon.
