Brighton stun Manchester United with 3-2 Carabao Cup comeback

Brighton & Hove Albion secured a historic 3-2 comeback victory against Manchester United in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford. Despite United racing to a 2-0 lead within the first ten minutes through goals from Shea Lacey and Mason Mount, Brighton staged a dramatic turnaround. Charalampos Kostoulas pulled one back before halftime, followed by second-half goals from Pascal Groß and Maxim De Cuyper to seal the win.

The defeat marks a significant low for Manchester United, as it is the first time in 50 years the club has lost at Old Trafford after holding a two-goal lead. The loss also results in United being eliminated from the League Cup for the second consecutive season.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has taken full responsibility for the result, describing the second-half collapse as unacceptable. Despite the mounting pressure and criticism from supporters, Carrick stated he does not feel personal pressure regarding his position and is focused on upcoming fixtures. The club's recent form has been poor, with only two wins in six matches across all competitions.
