Brighton Pride marks 35th anniversary with record crowds and headline acts

Brighton and Hove Pride celebrated its 35th anniversary this weekend, drawing an estimated 300,000 to 450,000 participants and spectators, making it the largest Pride event in the UK. The two‑day festival featured headline performances by pop star Raye and a scheduled appearance by Diana Ross, alongside acts such as Jessie J, Self Esteem, Leigh‑Anne and a RuPaul DJ set.

The parade began at Hove Lawns at 11 a.m., travelled along King's Road, West Street, North Street and London Road, and finished near Preston Park where the Pride in the Park festival continued. Organisers reported that the event generated more than £1.4 million for LGBTQ+ charities and provided a significant boost to the local economy. In response to a recent attack on a Berlin Pride event, armed police were deployed for added security.
