Brigitte Macron's cassation appeal to be heard in November
The French Court of Cassation's criminal chamber is scheduled to examine Brigitte Macron's appeal on November 10. The appeal follows a July 2025 ruling by the Paris Court of Appeal that acquitted two women accused of spreading transphobic misinformation online.
The case involves false claims circulated on social media alleging that the French First Lady is a transgender woman. While the two defendants, Natacha Rey and Amandine Roy, were initially convicted in September 2024 and ordered to pay damages, they were later acquitted on appeal.
The Court of Cassation will focus on whether the law was correctly applied rather than re-evaluating the facts of the case. A judicial source noted that the general prosecutor's office has issued a partial opinion for cassation regarding the appellate court's decision.
