The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a Diwali bonus of ₹33,000 for its employees. This decision, made during a meeting involving administrative officials and employee union representatives, aims to support staff in celebrating the festival.

The bonus will benefit more than 83,000 officials and employees, including teachers and non-teaching staff from aided private primary and secondary schools. This year's amount represents a ₹2,000 increase over the ₹31,000 ex-gratia payment provided last year.

Mayor Ritu Tawde stated that the decision was made in consideration of employee demands and the increasing responsibilities regarding Mumbai's development. The administration plans to disburse both salaries and bonuses simultaneously on November 2.
