BMC demolishes unauthorised construction at Ajay Devgn’s Juhu bungalow

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has demolished portions of a property in Mumbai’s Juhu area linked to Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn. The action targeted unauthorised interior alterations, including partition walls and window modifications, at the 7,802-square-foot bungalow located in the Kapole Co-operative Housing Society.

The civic body issued a stop-work notice on September 10, 2026, under Section 354A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, after alleging that construction involving Siporex blocks was proceeding without necessary municipal approvals. Although the owners reportedly sought time to respond, the BMC proceeded with the demolition after determining that the work had continued despite the notice.

The property was reportedly leased to Florian Hurel Salons Pvt. Ltd. for commercial use as a spa and salon under a five-year agreement. This proposed conversion led to disputes with the housing society regarding statutory permissions and concerns over traffic and safety.

In a statement, Devgn’s team clarified that the property is not his primary residence but a separate unit that has been rented out. They maintained that they have applied for the requisite permissions and are complying with all applicable BMC rules and regulations.
