Briheni hosts 9th annual Pie Festival in Apuseni Mountains

The 9th edition of the ‘Festivalul Plăcintelor’ (Pie Festival) is set to take place in Briheni, located at the foot of the Apuseni Mountains in the Lunca commune. The event is organized by several local entities, including the Șuștiu-Filia Briheni Orthodox Parish, the Lunca Mayoralty, the Bihor County Council, and the Apuseni National Park.

The festival aims to celebrate local culinary traditions by showcasing a variety of traditional pies, such as ‘Plăcintă pe lopată’, ‘Vărzar’, and various fruit and pumpkin varieties. In addition to food, the event will feature traditional workshops including blacksmithing, wood sculpture, and egg painting. The program includes a Holy Liturgy at the local church followed by an official opening ceremony.
