Brioni National Park: Crew impersonates military to avoid fees
A group of Slovenian and Croatian citizens was intercepted in the waters of Brioni National Park after allegedly impersonating a Croatian Navy delegation. The crew, wearing military uniforms and using a vessel with fake military markings, reportedly attempted to bypass security protocols and avoid paying port fees, docking charges, and entry fees to the Pula Port Authority.
The incident occurred while the area was under heightened security due to the presence of Croatia’s State Attorney General, Ivan Turudić. The vessel is privately owned by Olimp Defense Group, a company owned by a Slovenian transport entrepreneur and a retired Croatian military member, Mladen Miljanić.
Authorities, including the maritime police, Coast Guard, and military, intercepted the boat. The vessel was operated by a Slovenian citizen, K. G., who reportedly has a criminal record that previously disqualified him from a Ministry of the Interior tender for police boats. Preliminary reports suggest the crew may have been fined 1,000 euros, and further investigations are ongoing.
