Brașov car accident kills two pedestrians on Mureșenilor Street
A fatal traffic accident occurred on Mureșenilor Street in Brașov on Tuesday evening, resulting in the deaths of two pedestrians and leaving a third in critical condition. The incident involved a Dacia Duster that lost control near a roundabout, mounted a green space, and drove onto the sidewalk, striking three people.
The deceased have been identified as a 26-year-old Romanian man from Piatra Neamț and a 34-year-old German tourist. A third victim, a 31-year-old German tourist, was hospitalized in intensive care with serious injuries. The driver, a 50-year-old local man, also sustained injuries and was taken to a medical unit, though he reportedly refused hospitalization.
Police are investigating multiple hypotheses regarding the cause of the accident. While toxicology reports for alcohol and drugs were negative, investigators are looking into whether the driver suffered a sudden medical emergency, specifically an epileptic seizure. Local reports noted that the driver had previously gained recognition for saving a tourist from drowning 11 years ago.
