BRIN develops N219 aircraft for flying ambulance vision
The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is developing the N219 and its amphibious variant, the N219A, to support President Prabowo Subianto’s vision for a flying ambulance system. These aircraft, developed in collaboration with PT Dirgantara Indonesia, feature Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) capabilities, allowing them to operate on both land and water. This functionality is intended to facilitate medical evacuations in Indonesia’s remote archipelagic regions where healthcare access is limited.
In addition to the N219 series, BRIN is developing a Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). This drone is designed for continuous 24-hour flight with a Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) control range of approximately 2,000 km, intended to support critical missions such as tactical monitoring and emergency logistics projection.
