Italy implements school safety and merit-based funding initiatives

Various Italian regions and municipalities are launching significant investments to improve school infrastructure and support students. In Brindisi, over 1.6 million euros from the PNRR will fund fire safety and security upgrades across ten school buildings. Similarly, the Province of Vibo Valentia has allocated 1.36 million euros for fire prevention measures in seven institutes located in Serra San Bruno, Nicotera, Tropea, and Vibo Valentia.

In the Metropolitan City of Messina, 1.2 million euros are earmarked for structural improvements, including addressing facade deterioration and fire protection at several institutes. Naples has also approved over 1.6 million euros for seismic upgrades and urgent repairs to address structural degradation in specific school buildings.

Beyond infrastructure, social and merit-based support is being expanded. The Basilicata region is distributing 1.2 million euros in scholarships to 1,228 deserving students through its ‘Valore del Sapere’ initiative. Meanwhile, in Soliera, the newly renovated ‘Muratori’ nursery school has reopened following a 3.9 million euro investment focused on seismic safety and environmental sustainability.
